The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2017 was successfully conducted by IIT -Madras, this year’s organizing institute on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Around 1.7 lakh students who cleared the JEE (Main) this year, had registered to appear for the JEE Advanced this year.
The JEE Advanced comprises two papers with three parts each for physics, chemistry and mathematics. There were 18 questions for each subject in both the papers. The total number of questions remains the same as last year.
Team Meritnation analysed the paper and found that both the papers were designed with a good mixture of conceptual and tricky questions. However, Paper 2 was more difficult than Paper 1. The physics and mathematics portions were easier as compared to last year whereas chemistry was more difficult.
In Paper 1, physics and mathematics portions were easy as compared to chemistry. Chemistry portion had a mix of conceptual and calculation-based questions. Mathematics and physics portions required understanding of the topics. In Paper 2, the mathematics portion was relatively more difficult; the difficulty levels of physics and chemistry portions could be considered to be ranging from medium to difficult.
