A pronoun is any word that can be used in place of a noun.
For example:

Johnny runs fast. He has won an Olympic gold. (Here. ‘Johnny’ is a noun and ‘he’ is a pronoun. This pronoun is used in place of the noun ‘Johnny’.) |
